Make Music Philly

Ami Yares

Ami Yares, an offspring of the sprawling New Jersey suburbs, a child of Philadelphia born not far from the Liberty Bell’s echo found his voice and fervor for songwriting on Mediterranean shores. Influenced by his American folk music upbringing as well as his heritage’s tragedy and triumph. Ami's music merges his Jersey roots with wisps of Middle Eastern culture. “Yares wields his 12-string guitar as if it were an entire orchestra, backing his vocals with a dense, rich cascade of sound...meaning sizzled in his eyes with the intensity of hot coal, AMI YARES is a mostly solo act from Philadelphia, playing music versed in the American folk and singer/songwriter tradition. While seemingly carrying a 12-string guitar not far from Pete Seeger's, Ami's playing and singing draw from deep heart space singers and players like Richie Havens, Cat Stevens and Jason Isbell. You can catch Ami performing tear-drenched ballads to sweat-soaked floor stompers that are meant rattler your heart and body.
